Learning this Week:
Writing: This week, we will be emphasizing the five elements of literature and write fictional stories that have an evident theme. Students will wrap up writing contest pieces as well as any final drafts too. We will focus on "showing, not telling" too. Students will be expected to edit any "telling" statements into "showing" statements.
Math: Students will receive Topic 2 Math test back. We will begin Topic 3, "Strategies and Properties to Multiply 1 Digit Numbers."  We will review all vocabulary for this topic as well as continue WAM's in our center rotations. In a WAM, students are expected to formulate an open response in math by using pictures, equations, and explanations. 
ELA: This week, we will wrap up character traits and theme. We will use mentor texts to find the theme and I will model how to write a  reading letter. 
Science/S.S.- We will learn about the different types of landforms as well as bodies of water.
