Mystery Research
Starting this week, students will receive their first "Mystery Research" assignment. Students are expected to use three clues to research and figure out what state is being described. Students will be given 1-4 on the assignment. If students identify the state, answer the questions, and include the source, they will receive a 4.

Writing: This week, we will be drafting personal narratives. We will use organizers, look at mentor texts, and students will learn how to craft a strong lead as well as use temporal words in their writing.
S.S./Science: Students will be learning about the three branches of government and how the separation ensures that no branch of government will become too strong. We will discuss the roles of each branch of government and dive into our first Scholastic News.
Math: Depending on student learning, we will wrap up Topic 1 and assess on Friday. To conclude this topic students will be focusing on using Math Practices when solving word problems. We will review rounding, place value, and comparing numbers.
ELA: We will be wrapping up our learning about the different types of genres. We will be focusing on character traits and how they reflect who a person is on the "inside" through the use of mentor texts.
