Week of 9/12

Happy Monday!

I am very excited to begin our first FULL week of school. I hope everyone had a great weekend!

This week, I will begin checking agendas for reading logs. Please have your child record the Title, Author, and Pages read at the bottom of their agenda.

*It's wonderful responsibility and practice for the student to record their reading each night, so please encourage students to fill out their own reading log :) Thank you!

We will also be starting math homework this week. Just a reminder: if your child is having difficulty on a certain lesson, please write me a quick note and I will happily review the content with them the next day.

Writing: We will continue to focus on writing quality quick writes by using complete sentences and restating the question. We will also be writing poems about ourselves.
Science/S.S: We will read and discuss a few different pictures books about 9/11.
Math; We will begin Topic 1, which is focused on place value. We will practice using the different sections of our notebook, including vocabulary.
ELA: We will be discussing main idea and what it looks like to "reading closely" We will also begin explaining the different types of genres by using books in our classroom library.
