Learning this week:

Math: We will be starting Topic 12 Adding and Subtracting Fractions which will include mixed numbers. 

Writing: This week students will be writing an opinion piece using emoji characters to express their opinion about a topic. We will review opinion writing format as well as write this piece in letter format. 

S.S/Science: We will be finishing up rocks and minerals, including the rock cycle and the three types of rocks.

ELA: We will continue with pourquoi tales, students will be comparing and contrasting pourquoi tales as well as begin writing their own.

Learning this Week:

Math: We will wrap up Topic 11 and review fraction equivalence as well as comparing fractions. We will Test on Thursday. 

Writing: This week we are learning about quotation marks and will be incorporating dialogue into our writing. Students will finish up their St. Patrick's Day creative writing pieces.

S.S/Science: We will continue learning about rocks/ including the three types of rock.

ELA: We are still learning and reading about pourquoi tales. Students will be working with personificaition as well as begin planning to write their own pourquoi tales.

Learning this week:

Math- We will continue with Topic 11 (Fractions). Students will be finding equivalent fractions on number lines as well as comparing and ordering fractions.
Writing- This week we will have a special treat! Big Ryan will be here on Monday and Friday for writing activities! In addition, we will begin determining different text structures.
S.S/Science- We will continue with rocks and minerals. We will complete sorts and (weather pending) collect and examine our own rocks.
Reading- We will begin our new unit, Purquoi Tales. Students will be determining the elements of a pourquoi tale and we will be recording the cultures on our world map.

Learning this Week:
Math- We are currently reviewing and investigating factors and multiples as well as prime and composite numbers. We will be starting to compare fractions as we move ahead in Topic 11 (Fraction Equivalence and Ordering)
Writing: We will create and finish our writing piece, based on the text, Wacky Shoes. 
S.S/Science: We will continue with weathering and erosion as we watch videos, read text, and complete sorts.
ELA: This will be our last week learning about immigration. We are finishing up our unit on immigration. Students are currently finishing up their CEPA, which is a non-fiction book about immigration.
