Week of 10/23

Good evening!

Reminders this Week:

Our field trip to the Lloyd Center in Dartmouth is on Wednesday!*
*Please dress appropriately! A reminder will go home in Tuesday Folders!
Daily math sheet
Read 25 mins. each night

Learning this Week:

Math: Students will be multiplying 2 and 3-digit numbers, by 1 digit numbers, using a variety of methods. They will use the distributive property, area model, array, and partial products method. Students will focus on Mathematical Practice #5 (Use appropriate tools strategically). They will build array models to represent multiplication problems. In addition, students will continue to write about math, practice fact fluency, and practice math workshop routine.

Science: We will be finishing our unit on weathering and erosion this week. We will complete sorting activities and create a concept map of vocabulary words based on scientific articles.

Congrats Room 41 winners! Nice job making the best guesses at our Open House Estimation Station!

Week of 10/16

Good Afternoon!

Reminders for the Week:
Daily math sheet
Read 25 mins. each night
*Book Orders- Tues.
*Math Test Slip- ASAP
*Fun Run Pledge $- Wednesday

Learning this Week:
Math: We will be taking our Topic 2 Assessment (Addition and Subtraction) and begin Topic 3 (Multiplying by One Digit Numbers). Students will use mental math to multiply by multiples of 10,100, and 1,000. We will also be rounding whole numbers to estimate products. If time allows, we will begin multiplying by using the distributive property.

Science: We will continue within our Discovery Education unit, "The Changing Earth." Students will show their understanding of landforms by taking an assessment. We will continue investigating weather, erosion, deposition, and the effects on our Earth's landforms. Students will read articles and groups and complete activities online.
