Week of 4/10

It's been a very busy, short week! 

Reminders for the Week:

ELA MCAS IS DONE! :) :) All of Room 41 worked very hard and I am proud of them for completing ELa MCAS with such confidence! 

*MATH MCAS will be Wednesday, May 3rd & Wednesday, May 10th

*Swim Night- Wednesday @ 5:30!

*Book Orders- Thursday

*No School- Good Friday 4/14

Learning this Week:

Writing: We are continuing to read, write, and edit our pourquoi tales. Our goal is to have final copies completed by Thursday! Students are working on editing thier dialogue correctly as well as developing character traits. 

Math: We are on Topic 12 (Understand and Compare Decimals). Students are converting fractions into decimals, comparing decimals through the thousandths place, and identifying decimals on a number line. We will be continuing with this Topic after vacation. 

ELA: We are wrapping up comparing and contrasting two texts. Students are comparing pourquoi tales to skits as well as TingaTinga Tales videos. 

S.Ss/Science: We just wrapped up a Peep experiment to review the scientific method, and will be trying our first stem experiment on Thursday,

Learning this Week: 
Writing: This week we will be writing Pourquoi Tales, which explain why something in nature is the way it is. Students will focus on showing characters feelings through actions and dialogue. We will review the elements of a fictional story. 
Math: We will be wrapping up Topic 9 (addition/subtraction of mixed numbers). Students will be given review for homework this week and will be given a quick assessment at some point this week.
ELA: We will continue to identify the elements of pourquoi tales through reading and watching Tinga Tinga Tales. Students will compare and contrast the video with the story.
